blown fuses for fantatastic fan

I have a fantastic fan that recently blew a fuse. I replaced the fuse, and it was fine. I went out on a trip and went to open the fan cover and noted the fuse was blown again.

The fuse size was appropriate. One thing that occurred around 6 months or more ago was there was a water leak around the outside of the fan and water was able to enter the trailer. That was fixed by the dealer. I don't know if there is any correlation between the leak and the fuse burning out, but I thought that I would mention it.

What caused the fuse to blow?
  • Try it on No 1, No 2, and No 3 separately

Switches can short connecting multiple switch taps which will overload the motor
  • I have 50 amp power to the trailer. And few things were on when I tried to put on the fan and the fuse blew. So I am thinking it is not excessive draw.
And the trailer was hooked up, not being towed, so it wasn't a hook up problem.
I guess I will take it in, pay the piper and have it repaired.
  • If you replace the fuse and it doesn't blow unless the rig is moved you probably have a wire shorting out/rubbing on something and blowing the fuse.
  • "What caused the fuse to blow?"

    Excessive current draw.

Could be the lid is stuck to the gasket or a bad motor
  • The one thing I know of that can blow the fuse is if you reverse direction without letting the fan motor stop first.
Otherwise you may have to dig into it to see if something is loose or touching something it shouldn't.
