brand of entry steps? switching from double to triple..

after we switched the axles over in our 5th wheel, we need another step added to our entry steps...

I have looked at 2 models, the lippert brand (300lb rated) and the stromberg-flexco (350lb rated)....

does anyone have opinions as to which step is the best and easiest to use?
It is MY opinion that just because a manufacture wants to claim their step is stronger, doesnt mean it actually is..

I have seen people have trouble with the manual steps jamming when trying to deploy or stow, and others with sagging bent steps, (not common, but a real hassle when it happens) and I would like to install a set of strong, easy to use steps so that we never have troubles like that...

OR, as I would prefer to do here...we have the Lippert double step installed now. is it possible to add another step to this one to convert it to a three step unit? Thank you

Check out the Torklift Glow Steps. They are more expensive but solid as rock once deployed.

    This^^^^.
If I were going to the trouble to change I would upgrade as well vs. putting on a longer version of the traditional steps

Hickory Springs (HSM) are rock solid.

I used those a few years ago when I needed a 3rd step on a 5th wheel camper I lifted.

    They were excellent.
  • Anything but Lippert!

The Torklift are awesome but if on a budget and just want some basic steel steps Hickory Springs (HSM) are rock solid.

They entered into some type of agreement with Lippert a few years back and bailed out in a few months. I suspect when Lippert wanted to cheapen the product.

My Glowstep Revolution is the best mod I have done to my 5'er without question.
  • At a show a few months back I saw several types of these. Very affordable. I was surprised that I had never seen them before.

    MORryde clicky
  • Another vote for the Torklift Glowstep Revolution -- fancy name, but they work great. Very expensive.

  • I would identify make and model of your current step. Then get a compatible three step.
This makes it easier to mount using the same holes and hardware.
I would go with the Lippert as they are owners of Kwikee steps which are very good.
