CAREFREE AWNING FABRIC REPLACEMENT

Our trailer has an electric awning, 16' I believe. A dealer advised me that they remove the entire awning from the camper and remove and install replacement fabric on the ground.

The question is, is it necessary to remove the whole shebang in order to remove, not replace, just remove the torn fabric. It's a matter of trying to save some $100 an hour time.
  • The awning will be removed and the new one installed by a dealer. Thanks.
  • If it rolls up, WHY remove the fabric??? As the other poster stated, just use a razor knife and cut it off. BUT, you will have to tie the arms and top front and back to secure the arms to the RV for travel. Doug
  • Use a razor knife if you just want to remove the awning fabric and not replace it. That will take probably 10 minutes and it's done. To be even faster, just slice along the awning tube and leave the beading in the groove.
