I dislike using pounds for measuring propane use
A 30# tank is 7 gallons, a 20# tank is close to 5 gallons
Propane has less energy per gallon than Gasoline
So running the A/C uses more gallons of LP than Gas
Only You can compare your fuel costs more gallons of LP verus lesser gallons of Gasoline
Gasoline is usually easier to aquire and cost less per hour of use,
For home backup, where a large bulk tank is there for normal residential use , LP makes sense, For me it doesn't make sense for boondocking IF it will be used, on a regular basis
I lived in a Safari DP with propane Onan for 10 years, during a hot Midwest summer camping, i burned thru 100# aka 20+ gallons every 3 days using that Onan for the 2 rooftop A/Cs
The champion dual fuel generator, is a nice one
If the the price is right go for it,
But i would not use LP fuel , as my normal use fuel,
But it does give an option to continue use, if out of Gasoline, when camping with an RV where removal refillable bottles/tanks are the norm
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !
