Champion on propane

Can anyone confirm, the only way to stop the Champion generator while on propane is to shut off the gas? That is, the on board stop switch only works while using gasoline?

Plenty of reviews out there showing the Champion starting on propane but they skip the stopping part.

The Champion inverter generator I looked at has a very simple, yet effective interlock. When the selector switch is moved to gasoline, a cam blocks the port going to the propane inlet. This way, there isn't any way (barring modifications) to have both LP gas and gasoline connected at the same time.

Sorry, my mistake. The gas I was referring to is the propane. Bad choice of nouns.

  • Is that the reason they don't make a remote start/stop available for the dual fuel models?
  • Otherwise, you'd have folks forgetting to turn off the gas before they removed the male connector from the generator, and releasing a ton of propane before they could get the valve shut. Safety thing.
  • Shutting off the propane to stop was the way they were demoing it at Quartzsite...
