Converter - Easy Question

I have a Progressive Dynamics PD9245C and I'm installing 2 GC 6 volt batteries in series. I've always had 12 volt batteries in the past and used the PD to convert/maintain my batteries. Since many of you seem to prefer 6 volt GC batteries I would assume that many of you also have PD converters. So, am I safe using PD or do I need a different type converter? I checked PD's web site and FAQ's, but they do not address the issue.

You have what I consider to be the very best converter made and it is designed specifically for a pair of Six Volt Flooded wet cells.. The only "Upgrade" possible would be a 9260 instead of a 9245 but the 9245, which will recharge slightly slower..May add a bit to the life of the batteries.. I think you will be very happy with it.
  • Basically any 12v RV converter will work on 6v or 12v batts. A pair of either are basically the same voltage, and the same AH capacity.

But, a PD converter works better ! :)
  • Thanks all. Just wanted to be sure. Didn't want to tell the wife I fried $600 worth of new batteries.
  • Properly wired those 6V batteries will be well maintained by that PD converter

  • I have used the very same combo, PD 9245 and 2 6 volt batteries, for more than 4 years and it works great,no problems at all.
  • Two 6VDC batteries in series are pretty much a large 12 volt jar, assuming both batteries are of similar capacity and such. You shouldn't have any issues using your PD converter.
