Can you still take a receiver out of your house and use a Tailgator or another Directv compatible dish on the road?

I have the HD24 receiver - a HD receiver - and as well as a genie unit and one of the genie "remote" units.

I take the HD24 on the road, reconfigure it for SD, and my 18" dish (Single LNB) and it works.

I only get SD on my HD TV, but it's still my local channels.

The Tailgater is a Dish only antenna that only works with specific Dish receivers.

Which receiver do you take with you? We have the new equipment and not sure if you can take a room box or if you have to take the main box?
If by room box you mean a Genie Client then no they don't work without the main Genie. But you could take both for multiple TVs. If your Genie Clients are wireless then you'll need to take the wireless equipment also.

Yes been doing this for years, the RV dish has to be compatible with your receiver.

Easily done if you have the old standard definition receiver. We've been doing it for years. Not sure how much longer SD receivers will be supported and Directv HD receivers need the Traveler antenna as best I know.
