Do U have Large Solar Panel Problems?

Looking to replace small 12v PV panels with 60 cell 24v panels that are often in the 3' x 5' size.
Has anyone had problems with large panels committing suicide from bouncing around, flexing too much, weak frames, too much heat on rubber roof... anything?
thanks

No more than you need slideout supports.
  • Thanks for all the responses and pics.
I was thinking there'd be an issue with sagging towards the centre of the array after all these bumps and maybe need some sort of foam/rubber support there, BUT looks like I'm good to go.
    Happy trails

  • 327 watt panels. Added a 4th one after this pic was taken.
  • Three 100 watt WindyNation panels...no problems....glued and screwed....and I never turn down driving into a USFS, BLM etc. campground via a dirt road. About 40 by 27.
  • Follow manufacturers recommendations on install and I cant see why you would have an issue. Theres hundreds and thousands of rv's on the roads today with large 150-200W panels that haven't fallen off. Good wood screws, plenty of Dicor and solid mounting brackets then hit the road. Good luck with the project.
  • I'm running 315w panels. No problems. They are made to withstand hurricanes and hailstorms.
  • No problems since I installed them 2 255 watt. I have 6 brackets on each one.

    Brackets 6 each panel
  • Almost 80,000 miles on six 135w Kyocera panels including 3 trips to Alaska and not a single issue. Panels are 59x23.
  • The 3X5 panel on the Sahara was there when I bought it. Near as I can figure from the Mx paperwork, it was installed in 2007.

I added another one in the spring this year. Looks good so far.
