Dometic 2862 blowing main 12v fuse supply

Replace the fuse, it blows right away. Disconnecting the control panel plug from the main board and then plugging it back in allows me to then replace the fuse and not have it blow again until after I turn the fridge back on. The lights come on the panel for about a minute and then it takes out the fuse again. Happens when on ac or trying to start on gas. Any thoughts, history or advice appreciated.

On edit..sorry for the multiple posts..was getting an error message and didn't think it was going in.
  • Great advice and I appreciate it! So what is a divider heater and what's it's purpose. It appears to be the climate control as it is wired to the switch. I didn't even know we had this feature. Anyway, that switch was in the off position. Checked the leads for a short, 24 ohms, probably ok. Disconnected the light and checked for problem, it appeared to be okay too. Reassembled everything, fired up fridge and problem has disappeared. Been running for an hour now. The fridge has been used heavily since middle of May and was frosted up a fair bit. Any thoughts? Thanks again!
  • Normally a short like this will be in the interior light or divider heater- on most models they are hooked to J2 on the board- sometimes with a "two-fer", and on newer models they use J2 and J3. Look at the wiring diagram to confirm, disconnect one or both and test again.
  • The fuse that is blowing.......
3A fuse on lower circuit board OR fuse in 12V DC panel?

You have a short.....could be in wiring from DC panel to fridge, on the lower board, cable from lower to upper board or upper board.
