Dometic AC won't turn on

Our AC hasn't been used since this winter when my inlaws used the camper in Florida. We're on a 2 week trip out west and never needed it the whole trip. Got to Iowa on our last night and it was 91 in the 5er. Plug in, adjust the thermostat and NOTHING. :E. I can here a click from the solenoid in the unit but nothing happens. The breaker is on and it has power.

Any ideas? I'm thinking of just going to the dealer because I have ZERO experience with AC systems. But if it's something straight forward I'll give it a try.

Thanks.

Took the 5er into the dealer today for them to diagnose my AC issue. They called an hour later and said nothing is wrong, it turned on the at the 1st try and blew as cold as can be.

AARRGGHHHH Intermittent problems!!! :M ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

So....was it bad power at the campground, a bad connection that wiggled into place on the drive home, gremlins....?!?!? I have no idea. The one variable is it's currently 75*F and overcast. When it wouldn't work the temp in the 5er was 91*F and it had been in the sun all day driving down the road.

Of course I have egg on my face because I didn't bother to try it when I got home. I should have, but didn't. I checked the fan and everything spun easily so I just assumed there was some issue in the controls.

It's supposed to get up to 90*F this afternoon. I'll kick it on this evening when it's hot and the sun is beating down on the unit. That will be the real test if there is a problem or just some odd glitch I hit at that campground.

I agree. Open your grill inside, with the power off and see if the gage spins freely. If it is sticky and not turn freely go above and see if something is restricting. If nothing restricting, an easy fix to replace the fan motor. Cost about 125 dollars if you do it yourself. Most repair shops want to replace whole unit for you. Many videos on you tube how to do.

I can only give you my experience this year. The bedroom unit would not come on. It sounded like it wanted to but would not. Climbed on the roof and took the AC cover off. The squirrel cage of the fan would not turn. Used some muscle to turn it just a little. I noticed some loose dirt. Bottom line it was a dirt dauber nest on the fan blades. The blades were stuck in the plastic housing the nest was hitting. Cleaned off the fan blades carefully so as not to damage the squirrel cage, put the cover back on, and the unit has run perfect ever since. May not be it, but it happened to me in Louisiana.
