Dometic Air only fast speed

Bought a used camper. Too cold to test the AC, but the fan worked, I thought.

The AC has only one speed, haulin butt. Is this an easy fix? This seems like a much faster speed than my other Dometic AC in the camper I have for sale.
The fan is also rubbing on something, maybe the wheel is touching the sides, seems unbalanced.

Is there a way to trick the compressor to come on? I tried holding the temp probe in my fingers already. I would like to know if compressor will kick in before messing with the fan speed. Maybe a lighter?

So, the compressor will keep running colder and colder and colder refrigerant if the temp sensor does not tell it to stop?

When the compressor cycles then the command is only from the temp sensor in the fresh air intake, there is no other sensors? Then I should be able to hold my fingers on the sensor to get it to kick on?

It has been a few years since the AC was run, probably 3.5 years. The capacitor is not the first thing i would think would just happen to go bad between start-ups coincidentally this time. How would I check the compressor locking up?

Yes, the compressor will run if you have continuous 120 power to the compressor, unless it overloads. Then the Overload switch will kick it out. Problem is, in 40 years I have never wanted/attempted to run a AC in subfreezing conditions. NO REASON TOO! And my shop will be at least 60 degrees in cold weather. You connect a AC amp meter and see what the amp draw is if and when the compressor tries to start. You need to make sure the BLUE wire in the 6 pin connector to the roof AC has 120 power when the tstat sends the signal. Doug

I tried the hair dryer method. No compressor came on. This is on an old unit I have that worked perfect a few years ago when I took it off. I get the temp sensor wire hot, but is the coolant too cold on a 35 degree day for compressor to come on? Seems like maybe the temp wire is not the only deciding factor. I'd like to show a buyer that the AC works if he buys in the winter.
How do I trick it on?

Coolant in the summer when running would be hot on one side and cold on the other, now it is cold on both.

That's a good one, coolant too cold:@ So, no the coolant cannot be too cold to get the compressor to come on. Either the compressor is locked up or your Start capacitor and/or wiring to the compressor is bad. Doug

icing up bc of low coolant?

I took AC unit off. It on a wagon currently, got it for sale for on craigs for $150 if someone local wants it, and I may try to work on it months from now when I have more timeโ€ฆ

He may have made it run on hi speed only because it was icing up at the lower speeds in humid weather.

I would say that someone has bypassed the Fan control. Heat up the Tstat sensor tube with a hair dryer, that will cause the compressor to come on. Doug

Has 3 speed selector, but just turns fast no matter the speed selected, that is the issue, yes. I'm pretty sure there is an issue. you have restated correctly. thanks

Heat it up with the furnace.

Mechanical controls on a Penguin I believe you should have three speeds, and warmin* the thermostat capillary tube should make the compressor kick in. Sound# like it has issues.

its unaltered. regular drop-in AC unit on the roof. no ducts, just the roof panel.

from 2005 probably if it is original to the camper.

Not enough info. Is this A/C ducted and controlled by a factory original wall mount thermostat OR has it been replaced with an after market thermo intended for use in a house? If the latter the PO didn't wire in a switch that would allow 2 fan speeds and simply chose the highest fan speed.
