Dometic Brisk Air II 15,000 freeze

A few months ago I upgraded my AC to a Dometic Brisk Air II 15,000 BTU Rv Ac Complete ND System W/Heat. My unit is non-ducted, so I got the ceiling control unit.
A few times we started getting water coming from it.
Took it to a dealer, we checked and everything was fine. Good seal, water exaust, no other problem.
Then we started looking for the temp sensor to protect from freezing, and we found none.
We called Dometic and we were told that the unit for non-ducted installations does not have the sensor. You just need to shut it down if it freezes and let it melt down.

Somehow this does not sound good. Anybody with any experience on this kind of issues?

  • Your mechanical Tstat has a sensor bulb/tube. Make sure it is sensing the RETURN air and is in THAT air flow. Doug
  • Another thought. Be sure the air filter is clean and run the fan on high. High humidity and low air flow is a recipe for a freeze up.
  • Usually, the free blow air boxes don't have a freeze up problem- make sure the housing is sealed against the top plate, and no cold air is recirculating.
  • That would be a pain in the ---

You might try keeping the temp control set just above the coldest setting. The compressor would cycle more often and prevent icing.
