Dometic Refrigerator Noisy Fan

Question

I have a new 5th W with a Dometic Refrigerator model DM2862LBFX that has a noisy fan. The loud humming noise starts after the refrigerator has been on for a while. When it cools off outside late at night the fan shuts down and the noise goes away. When I hear the humming noise I have turned the refrig off and the noise continues but when I turn the battery disconnect off the noise or fan stops running. Is it difficult to change/replace the fan? There are two vents outside for the refrig, one down low and the other directly above it but much higher. Is there a web site that covers how to change the the fan?

I know that some of you are saying why mess with it have the dealer do it under the warranty, well that is possible but I don't want to wait a month to get an appointment to have the work done, if I can do it myself.

Are you sure it is the fan? We had a humming souund in our new dometic. We don't use the ice maker but the lever drops down and turns it on and hums.

Cheap sleeve bearing fans get noisy, and will do so faster if the impeller blades get caked with dust. Also a Horizontal running plane will cause sleeve bearing fans to wear faster.

Solution get a dual ball bearing fan of the same size, but fluid dynamic bearing fans can be quieter and more efficient.

Don't know what size? well neither do I, but likely 120MM. Pull the covers off, have a look. If you can get a pic of the fan and the top of it where the part numbers are, we can figure out what CFM rating it is and order a better replacement. Computer Muffin Fans vary greatly in noise made for amount of air moved and current consumed to do so. A variable speed fan is nice so one can turn it up just high enough to move the most air at the most tolerable volume.

Silverstone Fm121 if it is a 120MM fan. 33 to 110CFM. 0.09a to 0.4a, nearly silent to 39DB.

I fan like a Noctua NF-f12 moves 53 CFm for 0.05a and has a 6 year warranty.

Replacing it can be as easy as removing 4 screws, cutting two wires then resplicing them onto new fan and returning screws.

Via the upper side vent (fridge on slide out) you should be able to access fan.

Fan gets DC power via 12V DC terminal block (lower access. just to right of control module which is in lower left corner).
The DC terminal block gets continuous dc power from DC Dist. Panel....fused

Replace fan with a bearing fan vs the sleeved fan.
