Drained house batteries

I made a mistake. I forgot to plug my MH back in to shore power after washing the roof. I did not check on the MH for 10 days. The house batteries were down to 11.3 volts. How much did I hurt the batteries?

The only thing you should not do is try to recharge them with your converter. It will over heat the bank is it is nearly the right size. Borrow someone's little POS and leave in on there charging at 5 amps fax until the cows come home.

That's why they sell lots and lots of battery cutoff switches (but apparently not enough).

My 4 UL-16HC batteries are 2 years old and, prior to this, have not been discharged below 12.1 volts. Those are expensive batteries so don't want to buy new ones for a few more years.

I like to use this chart for determining the approximate charge state of my batteries...

I consider the 12.0VDC level being the approximate 50% charge state.

When camping off the grid this is what I watch for... Then the next morning when allowed to run my generator I will bring my battery bank backup to its 90% charge state in about three hours time using smart mode charging.

You should be be OK if you get the 11.3VDC level charged back up right away... It is definitely not good for the battery to get that low of a charge state.
