Elongated toilet won't fit

I want to replace my "standard" Thetford toilet with an elongated model. But none of the elongated models I've found will fit in the available space. Have you found a way to solve this problem?

If you have Aquamagic III or IV, all models in the horizontal line will fit. It looks like they don't recommend replacing Thetford with Dometic lines, the companies merged but models are different. Location of bolts and distance from the back wall are critical, it's not just leg room in front. I think anything would be better than my current Aqua III-IV, the "saddle" is so uncomfortably narrow, cutting into the body.

But, - keep your old toilet. There were more than a few users who regretted buying a new one instead of replacing parts in the old one.

HA!! When we were in the early stages of shopping we ran around with a tape measuring the distance from front of toilet seat to wall. Some are so close you have a job to sit. Even worse to get up again.

Lots of people don't think of these things when shopping.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, none of the Dometics will fit either.

The hole in the floor needs to be farther from the back wall and the side wall of the bathroom. But the hole cannot be moved because it is the top of the black tank. The RV is a truck camper but that is somewhat irrelevant. At a recent RV show I looked at many bathrooms. None of the toilets was an elongated model. And I saw no bathroom that would accommodate an elongated toilet without moving walls or the hole in the floor. I see no reason why Thetford could not design an elongated toilet that would fit the same floor space as their standard toilet. But they seem to have no inclincation to do so.

If it is too big you can't apply an RV stretcher. Go with a standard toilet or a larger RV.

If elongated won't fit, it won't fit. I assume there is something blocking it, or a door swing would hit it, etc. This is a common problem even for small half baths in S&B homes.

I don't think Thetford makes a half elong model. I guess you could shop around other brands. But they tend to be rather standard sized, so standard seats fit.

You must be hung like me. We need the larger model 🙂 😉

I'm not sure I understand the issue. Why won't it fit? Is the hole in the floor insufficiently large? What are you trying to put it in? Do you just need to move the hole in the floor? Or do you need to move a wall? Or the shower? Or the sink? Do you need to move it farther from the wall?

More information would be a wonderful thing?
