Everstart 24DC

Is it a true deep cycle or a dual purpose? I can't find the RC or ah rating online. I hope it's 85ah or more? How does it compare to Crown or Interstate group 24 batteries?
  • Comparing the two alternates to a Crown is much like comparing RippleĀ® to Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Give Crown a moment of telephone time and ask them

    Positive plate thickness

    Percentage of antimony content
  • Probably the Interstate may be similar to the Ever Start. However the Crown may be a much superior product. Follow Mex's suggestion. He has forgotten more about batteries than most of us ever learn.
  • 24DC is rated deep cycle trolling. This is not really a starting battery even though it has a MCA rating of 690. 24DC will work fine in your RV although it is not a large battery with high capacity compared to a 27DC or 29DC.

OK maybe a little less capacity compared to Crown and may not live as long but it will come at a lower price. Charging, usage and maintenance will have more effect on service than brand IMO.

What do you really expect from this battery?
  • A TRUE "Deep Cycle" group 24 batter would offer about 60 amp hours at the 20 hour rate, around 400 CCA and weigh in at around 55 lbs.

    It would never sell.

But a well made battery of this ilk would charge faster, get to 100% charged easier, not sulfate as fast, require far fewer incidents of equalization, and have double the lifespan under rigors of sustained 50% discharge recharge cycling

    And it would never sell

An inexpensive Load range G racing tire...

    But regardless...

Good batteries are made better with denser more expensive plate paste. So the cell electrolyte does not imbalance as easy. So charging cell-recovery is easier. If you do not mind a lifetime odyssey of goosing the battery that last ten percent when the battery is working hard for extended periods of time then go for cheapest.
  • SMK is exactly right on this. Treat this battery right, and it will treat you right.....and give you good service. I don't buy expensive batteries either, but yet I get top notch service from them.
And I don't burn them w/ hi voltage either !!
