factory installed day shades

Our factory installed day shade, windshild, is stuck in the down position in our 2008 Phaeton. Night shade works fine. It has two wires for each shade and the previous owner told us, if they were to ever get stuck to put a paper clip on the end of each wire to close the circuit for reprograming them. Tried that but nothing happened.
Any suggestions or something we're not doing?????

You should have MCD shades on a 2008. They never lose their programming. When you jump those wires, you should hear a beep sound. VERY faint. So, be close to the shade and have NO other sound distractions. Is your switch a square type mounted on the wall side panel? Or do you have a spring loaded switch on the dash console? If you have a spring loaded switch, then the programming wires are not really used. There are 2 brands Tiffin used for the shades---MCD (I am not sure when they stopped using them) and AUTO MOTION. Which Tiffin has used for at least the past 6 or 7 years if not longer. It is COMMON for the Auto Motion shades to have a defective motor and they stop. Use the link below to determine which you have. Doug
