I got the fifth wheel out of the barn today in prep for getting the hey South. Right at 10 degrees out there. So when I grabbed the cord it was like a steel cable (exaggerating a little). I had to warm it with a heat gun to make the plug in to the truck.
I gotta get a new flexible at low temperatures one.
Which brand replacement should i buy? thanx
Well I have the camper back in the barn and also the "blue" cable has arrived. It will be a few until the temp gets above freezing there before I install it.
Thanks Gordon and RV, I have the cable out in the 20 degree weather and it is very flexible. :C
I use the blue Bargman trailer umbilicals; they are very flexible and are much easier to deal with than the plastic jacketed cables. They come in 6 and 8 foot lengths.
There's lots of advice and information in forums... sometimes it is correct.
Maybe I did not do a good job of identifying it. It is the electrical hook up between the fifth wheel and the tow truck. signals, running lights, brakes etc.
Thanks Gordon, I did some searching with "blue" in the title and found a bunch of the blue Bargman's on ebay.
30 or 50 amp, anyway just go on amazon and in the automotive section search for the appropriate cord. Check the descriptions to see if one is rated for low temps. I would not get my hopes up tho.
