Fresh Water Inlet Squirts Back

When I fill my empty fresh water tank using the 1 1/4" open port (not city water) I push my hose end in a little. Lately, after about 2 minutes, water comes gushing out, pushing out the hose. Water also comes out the small air vent hose opening. I can then put in more water for about 30 seconds. Then it happens again. If I turn the sillcock down considerable so water trickles in, then I'm OK.

I replaced the 1 1/4" ribbed hose but that didn't help. I noticed the 1/2" air vent hose has a low spot in it's travel trapping water. Could the lack of an open air flow there be the cause of my problem? If not, what?
  • Yep, what he said ^^^. Also, if the fill and vent are so low that you lose water out the vent on corners, you can put a high hump in the vent. The main thing is to make sure there is no low trap in the vent hose and make sure it can't kink after time. I've gone to thicker wall tubing to prevent the kinking. Craig

Bingo. Need to route that line so it slopes continuously down from the vent opening to the tank with no water traps.
  • sure sounds like a blockage in the fill hose. not sure how the sunnybrook is setup. on my kz, the fresh tank is inside the coach, so I can easily inspect it and the hoses

maybe your parking spot is off level and water's just not able to enter the tank easily?
