Fridge Defend ARP Device

Hi,
I just purchased the ARP Fridge Defend. I received instructional email from the company, and it is somewhat overwhelming. Has anyone here installed this device?? Was it difficult? Because the multiple pages links to 28 page manuals with more links and links within more links of reading can be somewhat unmanageable when trying to install something for the first time. Anyone install this on a Norcold with the Amish cooling unit???

The install is a sizable project. I have put my notes and photos up here:

Hope this info helps others!

I installed one on ours a couple years ago, spent a good amount of time reading and rereading the instructions for my Dometic. The toughest part was reaching up for the sensor on the flue and not cutting my arm on the sharp tin.

It works well.

I have not yet received my ARP device (just ordered a few days ago), but I am hoping that I can get this installed without removing the refrigerator from the cabinet. I was of the understanding that it would NOT have to be removed to install the ARP device.

Yep, I installed one a year or so ago in a Dometic.

The instructions are daunting. I had a Chromebook with me and referred to their website often while doing the install. I did have the refrigerator out because I was doing multiple projects at the same time. With the refrigerator installed it would be a bit difficult removing the shield and installing the sensor on the chimney.

Now I've replaced my trailer and will be installing another one. It will be a Dometic again but I don't plan on pulling the refrigerator.

Since you have a rebuilt unit you might really struggle because you might need to improvise on some things.

I reached out to Paul, the engineer who designed and builds the ARP.

Here is his e-mail back to me:

One must remember that when a manual is written for a universal product, there is a lot of info.

Most of the info is not needed, rather focus on the Make and Model of fridge you are installing for.

Call Paul if you have any questions, he is there to help.

The drawings for wiring are straight forward, in addition there are videos for the installation of the boiler sensor.

Like anything else, small steps make it manageable, and the links in the manuals are cross references for your convince.

Only follow the links if you need further information.

Beemerphile1 has. Don't know if it's an Amish unit.
