Possible also that a wire has broken or come loose from the thermostat or gas valve. I know that in my S&B I have to clean the contacts occasionally. JMO
One area of the thermostat that should be considerd is the anticipator wire within the thermostat. It has a slide lever that rotates left and right along a very fine wire and is visable when the theromstat cover is removed. The wire does eventually break and is very very hard to see because of it's small size. Moving the adjuster all the way to it's stop to by-pass that circut. Set the thermostat temperature adjustment to it's higest setting. In this senario the furnace should fire up after a short delay while the system goes through it's start-up process. If no go remember to reset the adjuster back to it's original setting. If it does start-up yeah yeah!!! Repalce the thermostat .
