Update. I did check all the connections that I could get to by removing the cover over the pc boards and saw no hot/burned connections or any corrosion. I did take each connection and pulled it off then back on again to clear any dirt. At that time that did not fix the problem. I gave the genny time as I posted this problem to this and several other forums. When I went to check the excite circuit I started the genny and all worked okay. FM.:h
I ran that genny for 3 hours today and all went okay so we will see. I did have someone on a different forum suggest that I didn't hold the start switch on long enough to start the excite circuit. Don't know about that but I did hold the start switch a little longer.
Generator Jim, Once I have time and figure out how to get at the brushes I will follow your suggestion to clean the slip rings.:B
