If your running 12 volt fans inside fridge just use the inside light for your 12 volt power no need to make holes. On my Dometic I just hook the poss. wire to the light door switch and the neg.(ground) to the neg. on the light switch. My fan runs when the light is off and turns off when the light comes on. If you want you can add a on/off switch in the fan. For the outside fan you have 12 volt power on the back of the refrigerator.

My fridge cabinet interior air circulation fans are grounded inside the cabinet. I ran the hot wire for them down the defrost drip tray drain tube to the back of the fridge, where it ties into a terminal that's only hot when the fridge is turned on.

"fan controller.." what is it?

I am using a PC fan controller to vary the speed of the fans. It will control the two fans in the fridge and a few external ones on the back of the fridge. It allows them to be turned on/off and the speed varied.

Straight up the condensation drain if you can't use the existing light power. Make sure it's a SMALL wire so you don't restrict the drain.

I set mine up like John Wayne --- when it's properly wired via light fixture fans stay running so long fridge is on and door is closed. I am unsure what practical benefit your going to get by varying speed on interior fans - sometimes simple is best.

I did mine also like John Wayne. Why make it complicated?

Good suggestions all. I added a fan using the light switch contacts and it worked fine. The thermistor wire chase is a great idea. I've heard of using the condensate drain too, and hence my caution. Sure we don't want to plug it with additional wire. But... Some condensate drains have a bend in them that's meant to create a water "trap." What the trap does is prevent loss of cold air down the drain. Counterintuitive but apparently critical, so I take it seriously. So if you put a wire up there, please preserve what otherwise looks like a kink.

If not a loop, then they use a small plastic insert in the end of the tube that blocks almost all of the opening...this is an important bit of knowledge....either the loop or the plastic outlet piece.

If it was me, I would use thermistor fans that are temperature controlled for the exterior fans and just let the inside the fridge fan run constantly...do you really want to be adjusting fan speeds all day?
