Ok, I know there has to be a simple answer to this but I'm hoping the collective brain here can give me one.I purchased and installed the subject inverter. Everything in the fifth wheel works brilliantly, except... when I turn on the microwave (even with nothing else in the RV powered up) the inverter shuts down. The MW is a 1500W combined convection/MW type and I thought a 3000W inverter would power the MW portion for more than a few seconds since it has a 6000W surge capability. Is the start up demand exceeding the inverter capability?Edit: Just in case it matters. The way I tie the inverter into the power is through a 50 amp cable hard wired into the inverter and then plugged in just as shore power would be. Turned on and off via the remote.

The most likely cause is low DC voltage shutdown. Post the type of battery powering the inverter, and the gauge and length of the cables for a more informed opinion.

From what I know it sounds like you dont have enough batterys amps.. Or batterys are low when you want to use the MW..There is a cut off voltage I believe.. 10.5 volts? 11 Volts?Not sure..But you did not state your battery bank size so really to answer your question...

My SW-2000-12 runs the Dometic power hog microwave just fine.To properly drive 3000w you really need six+ batteries connected with short 4/0 wire. 350MCM would be better for high surge depending on length.What does your 12v connection look like?

I have 4x6V golf cart batteries (450AH total - 225 ea) providing 12VDC. Inverter is 2 feet from the batteries and connected by 4 gauge. After doing some searching I found a similar problem discussed on Amazon where GP provided an answer. Their solution was to increase output to 120VAC from 110VAC and to decrease low voltage shutdown from 11.5VDC to 10.5VDC. My unit is already at 10.5VDC by factory setting. Not sure how to increase VAC output.

4 gauge is too small. See above for wire comment.

Whether increasing vac output would help I'm not sure. That would be discussed in your owner's manuel, I mean manual. Your manual didn't recommend 4 gauge wire.

My micro runs fine from 4 batteries. Inverter draws about 200 amps from those batteries.
Didn't notice what the 12v voltage was.

4 ga is on the small end, but at 2 feet length I wouldn't be totally sure that's the root cause. How about the battery interconnects? If they're also 4 ga, there's a bunch more small wire in the current path. Try measuring the DC voltage at the inverter input while when the microwave is started, or power a 1500 watt space heater and measure the DC voltage at the inverter. I totally disagree with the 110 vs. 120 volt suggestion. At a higher voltage, conventional microwave ovens draw more power. Doing the opposite, lowering from 120 to 110 (if you were able to do that) would help.

Per your manul when it shuts down do you get a red blinking light, or a solid red light on the invertor? One is low voltage and one is overload.

What are all the dip switches on the unit set for?

The dip switches to raise voltage are internal. Its factory set for 115volts..

Maybe the Hz dip switch is set wrong too..

Read your manual..

will power my 1685 input watts, GE microwave

the inverter is connected to the batteries via "1 aught" aka "0 gauge" welding cable

your looking at 140+ amps at 12v into the inverter, voltage drop and amp capacity is a very large concern

you need much bigger wire, to power that MW

did you replace the existing converter, or just turn it off ?
you don't want it on, and drawing charge power in an endless useless drain
