Gray water hose....

Hello all.....new to the forum. We recently purchased a 2008 Pastime 840LT truck camper. After going through all the tie down stuff and the other things associated with putting a camper on our truck, we have questions about the gray water clean out. It seems the gray water valve is a different size than the black water valve. The cap on the gray water valve says 1 1/2". So I have to drain the black water, close that valve, and then hold the 3" hose up to the gray water and then drain that. Does anyone offer a hose that will attach to a 1 1/2" valve? Thanks. Keith

Well.. Normally all RV drains are 3" but... That said.. Perhaps someone messed with yours.

That 1 1/2 inch line, is it threaded? If so try reducing it to a garden hose fitting.. Then you use a GRAY garden hose (I have white, gray, black and green here) to hook it to an adapter to the drain

But I've never seen that either. If all else fails, not hard to drill a hole in the cap and thread/epoxy a garden hose fitting into it.

they certainly are easily available for the larger sized pipe. if not, can easily fabricate one using a short fitting with garden hose on one end and NPT on the other with locknut?

  • I think Bumpy has the easiest and cheapest solution to draining the tank

  • Thanks for the responses guys. I have discussed this with a few folks and most say their gray water drains out through the same hose as the black water. It makes sense to have your gray kind of flush your hose for you, but not this rig. Will attempt to post a pic.
  • Welcome to the Forum. It would help if you let us know the camper model and year. You can do this by adding the info to your signature.

A picture would help too. Here is a link on how to if you do not know how: How to Post Picture Info

Usually, the 1-1/2 valve and 3" valve is tied together for a single 3" hose connection. Or the 1-1/2" is adapted to 3" for the dual connection points.

Have never seen a 1-12" sewer hose, but I'm still learning.
