If you already have the carb cleaner look at the carb cleaning sticky at the top of this section. It takes about 20 minutes to do a complete tear down and clean unless you tear a gasket.

Yes, as everyone has said, you've got a clogged jet. I had decent luck with Sea Foam in the gas, but even better luck with the blue-green Marine Sta-Bil. It cleaned my Honda all the way. Sea Foam got it running better, but not all the way.

From now on, if the gen is going to sit, or if you are unsure, put some Marine Sta-bil in with the gas. I've decided to do that every time, unless it was in the middle of a trip and I know for sure there will be another tank fill soon.

X5 on Sea Foam. Just ran one gen with Sea Foam for a couple of hours. Marked improvement on the choke which is nearly open to 90%. Thank you to all of you who recommended this treatment. It works for me.

X4 on the Sea Foam. I now put Sta Bil in the gas can every time I fill it and haven't had the problem re-occur.

My 1000 watt Yamaha started doing the same thing. I switched to non-ethanol gas and after a couple of tanks it's running fine.

X3 on the Seafoam. Worked on two of our gennys. Dump the old gas, add fresh, add Seafoam, run under load. I only run premium gas and try and find gas wiithout ethanol.

X2 on the sea foam. Also make sure you start with fresh gas. Let them run under load as mentioned above. Good luck.

Spray cleaner will only help a sticking choke valve
Try a double dose of SEA FOAM in the gas,run a couple hours with enough load ( maybe a small electric heater) to get the speed up so they suck max gas .
Many have had success with this remedy. Repeat as needed till they run smoothly
