Honda Gen EU2000i and EU2200i Companion

Can I mate my 5 year old EU2000i with a new EU2200i Companion (not purchased yet)? My gen has the parallel connectors. Or do I need to find a EU2000i Companion? Can't find a new one yet, maybe gotta look used if the new companion won't work.
TIA
  • Yes there should be a list online that shows what 2000 models it will mate with.

The EU2200i are only compatible with EU2000i or EU2000i Companion models within a specific serial number range:

    EAAJ-2017305 through EAAJ-9999999
    EACT-1000001 through EACT-9999999
Connecting an EU2200i with an EU2000i or EU2000i Companion that is not within the compatible serial range above may cause a low voltage output, which can damage tools and appliances powered by the generators. Units outside the compatible serial number range should only be paralleled with another EU2000i

Honda says no...but you can. Many have and do do it.

Interesting. That's the knowledge we were going off of, from Honda.

Probably negates any warranty on the 2200.
  • Westinghouse has a kit to hookup two of there inverter generators that also works with the Honda generator..I can parallel my Westinghouse 2200 and my Honda 2000 with it..

  • Per Honda:

    EU2200i and EU2000i Parallel Operation
The EU2200i are only compatible with EU2000i or EU2000i Companion models within a specific serial number range:

Here's the link to that information
  • May cause damage to things plugged in. Does not say it will damage the generator. Am I hearing that correctly? Check the voltage and may be OK?
  • Done it myself. In fact, mated a 2200 with 2 2000s. Now, mating 2 2200s with a 1000.

    That's what I read.

Honda doesn't say NO for all combos, only certain SN ranges

if it's within the defined serial number range honda says yes. And my 2000 I bought in 2010, almost 10 years old is within the range and works well with my 2200
