Hot Optima

A friend just sent me this- jokingly asked if this was why it wouldn't hold a charge :)

  • Wow. Someone overcharged that battery??? I simply don't understand why anyone would use Optima batteries when for about the same money they can get a standard construction AGM battery with twice the capacity.

    Pretty and cylinders. :)
  • There was no comment about what it was used in
May have come out of jeep, jet ski, or boat
  • He's pretty sure he over charged it- it's been used a bunch of places- boat, trailer, truck, and it's probably 10 years old.

    duct tape will fix it!

Be sure to top it off with some tap water first.
  • The hole is plenty big enough to let 2-charges escape shoulder-to-shoulder. You've heard the old saw about the steel ball a d feather duster...

I use Optima batteries, the first set lasted 13.5 years. The set I just installed are bigger than my last ones (D31M instead of D34M), I also looked and I never found anything that had twice the capacity and most cost more, the new ones have 75AH and because of the way they are made I was able to use my old sliding tray be angling them.

If you buy Optimas don't buy them off the internet, read the warranty, they have a paragraph in RED that says they will not warranty them because they aren't authorized dealers and the batteries may be rejects. The ones I bought had a little different number because they came from a Interstate Dealer, I can warranty them at any Interstate Dealer in the country.
