- Seems a bit high depending on quality and conditions. Not going to get discount parts during a full service install so these comparisons could be a bit off. Pulling wire in a neat and professional manor can be time consuming depending on the set-up.

I did mine myself using 4 130 watt panels off of Craigslist, for just over $2300, batteries and inverter included.

But if you are anticipating any road trips ion the near future, and really don't want to install it yourself. Maybe you should ask here for suggestions or recommendations on installers in whatever areas you plan to roll through.
Let your solar install help finance the trip. - AlmotExplorer III

You left out $2,000 for liability insurance for the installer to cover when the get sued in 5 years because one of the roof penetration screw holes leaked and the roof rotted.
They are not regulated, it's a Wild West, in 5 years most of them won't be around anymore. Besides, 6-7 year old plywood trailer is beyond any claims, there is often rot somewhere already. But he sure might try and sell you $2,000 "warranty" on top of his $3,000 charge.
Essentially this is a handyman's job. Once you know what parts you need, you just need to drive the screws and route the cables. The only mistake you could make is crossing Pos and Neg wires. They used to charge thousands, but rising competition (remember, this is not really a trade), and dropping panels prices are exerting downward pressure on labor as well. 20 years ago they were like magicians, today it's harder for them to run this roadside show, so admission prices dropped. - GottahaveitModerator

That's a great price for them. It's a terrible price for you.

- dapperdanExplorerI put three one hundred watt panels on my roof, charger and wire three years ago for well under a grand! Just saying $4800 sounds a "tad" high to me too. :B
