How many use a champion 3100 to successfully power AC

I picked on of these inverter generators up for myself after getting it for $609. Looked at the box this morning and looked on the Genny'sbox and see that they list a 12,000 btu window AC as needing 3250 running watts. I am now a bit concerned that it may not power my 13,500 Dometic AC on my TT. Do window AC's draw need more power than TT Roof Top AC's? Am I going to need a 4,000 watt genny to power my AC.
  • Not a champion, but my 2800w rated, 3500w surge genset runs our 13.5k btu ac without issue.
  • My brother has one. It runs the 13.5 BTU AC in his TT just fine.
  • The info on the box is not that reliable IMO. A Champion 3100 successfully powers a 14.8k BTU Whirlpool window a/c unit in my garage--even in 108 deg heat.

There are no guarantees, but I would be surprised if your Champion 3100 did not power your a/c. A Champion 3100 powers my roof-top Dometic 13.5k BTU a/c (which does not have start cap) just fine.

FWIW, if your Champion 3100 is operating properly, and is unable to start your a/c, then a pair of paralleled Honda EU2000i's or EU3000iS have even *less* of a chance of doing so. The Champion 3100 is capable of producing more inrush current then both of these Honda configurations.
