  • Stranded wire under a set screw?

    No thanks. Just another point for failure and corrosion.

  • With an extended frame pickup and long long 5th wheel a major ground bond can consume a lot of wire. A TTMA lift gate power connection and six feet of 1/O Wire can do the job. Saw a nice (F-550?) Ford last week that had dual alternators. The owner said he has seen a charging rate many times of 150 amperes from the truck. It was a buck's up rig with AGM batteries.

    I bolt and solder frame clamps such as this. No lead solder right to the steel frame. This is a new model of clamp that may have multi-uses.

    A source of inexpensive welding cable eludes me.

    I like that as well. Will still need some good self-tap bolts going into the frame with star washers to make sure the assy is at good ground.

    I stock on these frame ground kits from PEPBOYS when I got a battery project going that comes with drill and tap. They use self-tap large screw heads that have the built-in star washers under the heads after you drill the hole in the frame. Like they use on automotive grounds...

    Those last a long time for me after I install just one 2AWG or 4AWG ring terminal cable end.
