It happens to the best of them

A little background first. This tire is a Maxxis. It’s manufacture date is 12/12. I run them on my RV trailer for 5 years and then move them to my equipment trailer. I don’t haul anything heavy on my equipment trailer anymore and it’s strictly an in town haul.

I get 5 on the RV and in the past 5 on the equipment trailer (double duty). But this time one failed. The other 3 look perfect.

I noticed this failure right after I picked up a half yard of rock and it was still holding together. The failure is on both shoulders directly across from each other.

The pictures make it look much worse than it was as I just happened too pick the exact failure spot to do the breakdown. “Crushing” the sidewall to dismount it about destroyed it.

I don't have any comment other than I have heard of failures with Maxxis tires like most other brands.

Well, it seems that Maxxis and Goodyear are the most recommended tires. What tires do you run that aren't bombs?

I bet he is with the LT group. :B

I'll bet you are right. :p
