Kwickee steps bent

Still working on our old RV. I took it to get Propane and the steps didn’t retract! They are supposed to retract automatically when the engine starts. So unfortunately I bumped them against a curb and bent them. I finally used a “come-along” to pull the metal bars back in line. I had a board under the steps to keep them from bending both sides. Then I lubricated all the joints and now they come all the way out just fine but they stop a little short of fully closed. I can close them by pushing up with a board or my hands but don’t see the reason they don’t pull up completely by themselves. Any ideas?

YOu did not get them quite perfect. Had the same problem...

I wound up installing a switch that overroad the door switch It meant a "Giant step"getting into the RV but with that switch in the proper positon (Closed or open depends on your step controller) the steps stay in.> Flip it when camping.
