LED for 1383 Bulb

The replacement LED bulb for the 1383 starts at $13 and up. Anyone have a much lower cost source?
  • I ordered 20 LED bulbs for my coach from Amazon. I think I paid like $17.00 bucks for them. On!y one has not worked so far. I am satisfied.
  • try aliexpress.com for anything. Cheap and free shipping from China. That is where they are all made anyway.
  • The 1383 has the common 1156 single contact auto base. Sometimes called an elevator light.

Pretty sure a 1383 is nothing but a fancy 1156...Less than a dollar on EBay.
  • The 1383 is 2.5" long, 1.5" diameter, located in my ceiling and shine down only, no light out to the sides. So far I haven't found any 1156 variant that is close other than the pricey 1383 LED replacements.

These might work, a little searching for the BA15S (locking nubs same height and single center contact) base type bulbs should turn up some options that might work.

    Maybe these: 2X 7W Cree Q5 1156 BA15S LED...$3.

Or if you need a longer neck on the bulb, you still have the cree chip on the end.

I have those above our bed head board and replaced them with an 1156 led equivalent on eBay. Tried an 18 led bulb at first but didn't like the brightness so now we have 27 led soft white and they are a perfect replacement for us.
These are the typical bulb for many different applications so they do have LEDs on the sides but the deflector does shine the light downward. I did see some bulbs with more LEDs on the bulb end but haven't bought any.
  • Thanks for the input. I was focused on the light shining down but will buy a few of the above to find the "best" for us and then order more.

    Thanks again
