Lion Energy Lithium Batts

Not an electrician but some of my reading says that a DC - DC isolator, such as the Victron 12 / 12 30 is needed, at least on the Lion Energy UT1300, to keep the alternator from burning up. Anyone here understand that and have a comment.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on two for our 13 Allegro 36LA.

I would not be concerned about an alternator burning up charging a house battery.

Consider SiO2 instead. No need for any change to the charging system. About 1/2 the price.

Li have a huge inrush. But the dc to DC may be about getting the voltage high enough to charge the LI.
