Logging trailer miles

I'm to lazy to log my miles on every trip with the trailer, but would like to know the mileage for maintenance purposes. Does anyone make a low cost digital unit similar to what you can buy for a bicycle with a magnetic pickup attached to inside of wheel? Program in your tire size and outputs miles.
  • Semi trucks and trailers use a "hub-o-meter", you may be able to get one for your RV trailer.
  • I thought about one for old RV but when looking at its maintenance schedule I changed my mine.

Unless you tow a lot of miles... what maintenance item(s) "miles" out before it "times" out?

    2X.

  • I log our trips in a log book I got from my dad that he used. It list place from/to, mileages from/to, where stayed, cost to stay, maint. cost, notes about what we saw, weather, etc. Can review it anytime.
  • My F250 has a "productivity screen" that records the mileage when a trailer is hooked up. Pretty slick setup.

It will spit out the mileage close enough for maintenance tracking purposes (and most other uses)

I do the same with Streets & Trips.

  • Couldn't remember the name - finallly did - "hubodometer"
Dunno about building one but I googled and they are about $30 to over $100 - depends on tire size. Here's one style on Amazon But google "STEMCO Hubodometer" should get you going.

    Good Luck!

Here's one designed for RV trailers but it will set you back $100.
