Jayco JayFlight 26BHS- Full Slide- Dinette and Living areaHello. On a recent camping trip when we extended our slide we noticed that the rear of the slide was not extending out even with the front. We also noticed a loud popping sound had began when extending and retracting the slide. We managed to get through the trip and get back home. Upon inspecting the system I noticed one of the teeth on the front gear (15 tooth gear) was broke off. I replaced the gear, aligned the slide and was hoping this would fix the issue. OF course that is not my luck. The slide retracts nice and smooth, however, once it gets about a 2 foot from sealing the popping starts. The popping is caused by the inner arm assembly raising up on the gear and then slamming back down. Once this happens the teeth on gear and rail are slipping, which causes the rear of the slide to get misaligned again. This process repeats itself. Other than the gears are worn on the rack I do see it lifting when it slips. Nice job on the video!Once I figured out how to make the video larger, I could see it lifting.I have no idea why it's doing that! I'm going to take a look at ours to see what, if anything, keeps it from climbing up the teeth.EDIT,Looking at your video again it looks like your mechanism uses some wheels to keep it from climbing upward. Need to figure out where the extra clearance above them is coming from.

Are you sure the 15 tooth gear is correct? I know they make different gear pitches. I think another one is 18 tooth.

LCI (Lippert) has a Lip Sheet on this problem. It details how you install a cut flat washer between the top steel housing and the Steel ram that glides thru it. What has happened after operation the outer square frame has a slight bow on top and that allows the inner arm to raise up and allows the gear teeth to slip and/or break a tooth or 2. The washer does not allow the inner arm to raise up and slip. DougLook at the pic/diagram. The WHITE and BLACK wear tabs stop noise and keep the inner rail from lifting up. Make sure the TOP white and black wear tabs are not destroyed and missing. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I spoke with Lippert today, and even provided them the link with the videos. They suggested that the slide is out of adjustment, and potentially the slide is adjusted too high. According to them this causes the channel to wedge inside the rail and lift off the gear. I don't know about all that. The trailer is a 2015, don't know how the slide would just magically become adjusted too high. I had never attempted to adjust that part. All I have done is align the tracks front and back to ensure they were traveling even after changing the gear. I'm inclined to think dougrainer's tip about the rail being bowed and the flat washer fix maybe the issue. The wear tabs are still intact, although after all this replacing them may be necessary. Dougrainer do you know where I might find this Lip Sheet?

1. As you found out, LCI Tech is not the best help
2. For LCI to state what they did shows lack of knowledge. HOW could the mechanism lift UP off the gear pack and slip teeth IF the Nylon bushings are there for this to NOT happen? That is the whole idea behind those nylon bushings----To glide smoothly with no noise and to keep from lifting up and slipping. Doug

PS, did YOU find the Lip Sheet? And did you ask them about this Lip Sheet? Did they even acknowledge they knew about this Lip Sheet?

Doug, I didn't know about the Lip Sheet until yesterday afternoon when I saw your reply. I spoke with Lippert yesterday morning. However, during our entire conversation, even after they watched the videos they never mentioned the Lip Sheet at all. For them to put out this "Field Fix" bulletin means this was/is a common problem. I'm going to give it a try this afternoon.

Well I am happy to report that the Lippert Slide is back functioning properly. The 10 cent washer fix recommended by Doug did the trick. Thanks so much, happy camping!
