Max Air II vent to low to roof - rubbing

Hi all,

Installed max air II vent last fall. had clearance 1/8 -1/4 inch all the way around so no edges wear contacting roof. After cleaning and inspecting I see the rear of the cover is contacting my roof. My thoughts are it will wear a hole or tear ......

has anybody else had this problem?

Thoughts on raising or bending it up or pop the cover open and dremel 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the bottom?
  • Looks like a quick bend up did the trick. will need to support brackets in back so the don't bend back down or flop with the wind and cut the roof going down the road by vibrations.

We have a MaxxAir and two MaxxAir-II covers. Clearance depends on how they're installed. Specifically, where the attaching screw holes are drilled into the vent flanges, which hole in the MaxxAir brackets are used, and how the MaxxAir brackets are bent.
I think the best fix is to remove the covers and bend the brackets a little. Remove the brackets to do the bending if you must, but I think it can be done with them still fastened to the flanges.
Might also be possible to put a couple plastic spacers (or stainless flat washers) between bracket and cover, but I wouldn't cut or grind on the cover.
