Energy Star applies to the efficiency of the device controlled? ????????

The voltage of the stat doesn't matter. A good residential stat will work great and have a smaller temperature swing.
The best thing you can do is use an Energy Star rated stat and it will save propane, battery and keep your temps dead on.

I installed two Honeywell 7-day programmable thermostats in our coach, primarily for heat setback at night. Honeywell does have WiFi enabled stats, but I'm not sure how adaptable they are to RV use.

OK, I guess I am the only one that wonders as to why you would want to set back the temp.. A/C systems in a RV unlike a sticks and bricks are not all that robust (IE rather small capacity).. Not to mention RVs have considerably less insulation than a sticks and bricks..

You list your location as Arizona.. I would think it would take a lot more energy and would be harder on the A/C by trying to cool off your RV in the hotter afternoon/evening portion of the day..

I find that my A/C works much better leaving the temp the same pretty much 24/7.. The A/C gets the benefit of starting to cool at a lower temp in the morning rather than trying to cool at a higher temp in the afternoon..

You just need a programmable thermostat. Probably need a 7 day or 5-2 programmable depending on your work schedule. Lots install the Hunter with great success.

No. For that you would also need a live wifi network. Not always viable in an RV.

I have the hunter. Is your hunter programmable? I need programmable and the ability to turn on with my smartphone. Also would be nice to monitor usage... all features of the Nest.

I upgraded to a Hunter Douglas digital and we are very happy with it. 25 dollars at Walmart plus a mini SPST switch plus a few inches of wire makes for a very accurate thermostat. Batteries are not a hig deal, they last a year.
