NORCOLD Frig

Help! I just called NORCOLD for help. The plastic part on the botton of the frig that covers the pin supporting the door open and closed broke. NORCOLD states they have no replacement parts, and I must replace the entire lower door. Any ideas for repair?

you might give Colaw RV Salvage in Carthage, MO a call. Phone (877) 548-2125
  • If you are talking about the bottom hinge on one of the doors, not sure as they are not plastic but some alloy of soft metal.

You can cut a flat piece of aluminum the shape of the hinge, about 1/8" thick, and mount it between the hinge and door.

I've had one on one of my hinges for years. It's stronger than the factory hinges that norcold makes.

I'll try to get out there and take a picture.

If not what you're talking about you need to post a picture.
  • For future reference, the hinge broke because you put a lot of weight on the door with stuff stored there on those shelves. Going down the road, a little bump exerts tremendous forces from that weight onto that bottom hinge....it broke.

Do yourself a favor, put very little, if any, stuff on the door shelves and you will not have a problem again.
