Onan 2800 Microlite 1995 starts & dies in 60 sec

Difficulty keeping the unit running. Was running 1 month ago, occasionally surged.
Trouble shot by:
Removed unit, unhooked power output connectors, Unhooked oil sensor, oil level full, used stand alone fuel pump, new spark plug, removed fuel filter, input fuel line to can of gas.
One point ran for 2-3 min by constantly moving accelerator linkage- then died.

Could the only remaining trouble be the carburetor?
Can it be cleaned or rebuilt ?

Highly likely it is the carburetor and yes, it can be rebuilt.

EDIT : I just watched this video. The important part was at the beginning where he said the rocker arm was loose ! That is a very quick thing to check. Watch the rest and listen how to easily remove the carburetor !
  • If you put the output of the fuel pump to a can, how does the carb get fuel? If you removed the filter and you have the output of the fuel pump to the carb then you may need to clean the stuff out of the carb.
