Onan 5500 EVAP died

115 degrees F at the lake and ONAN quits. Quick inspection found gas spitting out the front of the carb. So as not to ruin everyone's camping trip, I make a 5 hour round trip to get my backup generator. 9000 watt open frame Champion. Weekend saved. Yes it is loud but most others were running them so what is one more?

I took the RV to Flagstaff today to Flag Tool & Engine Repair (authorized Onan repair center). I had heard good stuff about them and John took good care of me. Since I was out of town, he got right on it. He found the float full of gas. Since Onan don't sell carb parts, just complete carbs, he has a lot of salvaged parts. He replaced the float, plugs and air filter. The strange thing is, even though the float was full of gas, the gas doesn't leak out. Wierd!

Anyway, all is well, Just sharing my experience.

    Not strange at all.
No fuel flows TO the carb if the fuel pump is not running.
