Vehicle Trailer Wiring Made Simple!

Keep your expensive electrical system intact and at peak performance when wiring your vehicle to pull a trailer. Traditional harnesses require you to splice into your vehicle’s existing wiring. But the innovative new Zero Contact Interface (ZCI) Trailer Light Power Module makes it simple. The ZCI uses sensors that snap over the vehicle's wires without cutting or damaging them. These sensors then detect when current is flowing through the wires and send signals to the trailer. There is zero electrical draw, feedback, or interference. Simple and a snap to install. Get yours today!

I'm not real happy with Tekonsha product. Their prodigy RF unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter in my Touareg ended up developing some sort of internal short such that on the way back on a 250 mile trip, the trailer brakes would activate all by themselves, with no input from the brake pedal. Not only did the RF plug in unit in the cigarette lighter short out, it also roasted a $450 J module brake controller in my Touareg, that was $750 to have trouble shot, and replaced. So a $130 remote shorted out and destroyed a $450 VW brake controller part. I am pretty much done with Tekonsha as a result, they denied the problem exists. Anyone that wants to pull my old Prodigy RF apart and see which rheostat shorted out or came loose, let me know.

Niner, sorry but I have to tell you, that's the BEST laugh I've had in a long time!!

I think they're junk to, BTW.

LOL!! LOL!! That was SObest funny!!

My best guess is that one of the rheostats for manual brake to straighten your trailer out if it starts swaying, got hot in the control, and melted the tabs that hold it in place in the proper position, and once hot enough, the plastic distorted in shape, allowing further contact of the rheostat on a hot wire, thereby activating the trailer brakes just like the emergency brake switch would if you press the button, to straighten the trailer out.

I am curious if it still works with a burned bulb or a very low current LED bulb.
Saw no confirmation either way with a quick glance at the website linked above.

Just one more thing to fail IMO. My wire harness taps are bullet proof.

Pics, or it didn't happen.
Pics of what? The step down crimp connectors with adhesive lined shrink tubing?

BTW, I need your input on how to get the most out of my VW e-Golf BEV battery such that it dies before warranty is up and VW gets to replace it with something with more kwh in it, in the same footprint.
Sitting on 3 VW TDI's that are all fairly new, and now fairly worthless, due to some progammers cheats at VW and or Bosch to meet their Bosses demands on an unrealistic timeline, that proved unrealist also, in desired results for NOX.

You did roast your Leaf battery in short order, if I recall correctly?

You know the beauty of the internet is that you don't have to read his posts?? Yeah kind crazy isn't it,, you can just not participate in any conversation that doesn't meet your standards!

I personally have had some interesting reads from this individual so I click in to see what its about,, not once have tried to make this person follow my rules!! And with that being said,, there are some on here that when I see they have posted something (wait for it) I do not click on it!! Crazy isn't it??

Nice. Actually those sensors were described in an article in a magazine when I was in either High School or College... one time Tekonsha Engineering CEO Terry Hampton.. Was a classmate of mine. The sensors today are a bit different, (Better) but the idea is basically the same.

The article was on how to make a Turn Signal indicator that actually confirmed tail light operation.> It consisted of two current sensors (magnet wound around a reed switch back then, Today's current sensors are better) that sensed current to the light, one fed a resistor then the indicator lamp (Dim light, tail light) the other fed the lamp end of the resistor (Bright light, turn/stop lamp)

Good idea. i've often thought of making one.
