Power Center/Converter

I have a wfcoelectronics 8900 series power center. With too much time on my hands until we leave in two weeks, I have been playing with the inverter. I have it attached directly to the batteries and want to plug the rv directly into the inverter. Our usage is only a couple of LED table lamps, occasional television and laptop use.

I know I need to disconnect the converter, or remove the main fuse (not a technical person). Is that the same as turning off the "main" breaker?

I ask that as I have the rv plugged in here at home and when I turn off the "main breaker" it appears the converter stops running.

Is this what I want to do to be able to connect the rv directly to the inverter to have access to my 110 outlets?

Thanks in advance.
  • Hi,

If you "get lucky" the converter may be a plug in type like mine. Other than that you can flip the breaker off, and/or add a switch for just the converter.

You may also wish to set the fridge to run on propane.
  • The main is just that, the main, it will turn everything off. Turn off the breaker for the converter.
  • If you turn off the main breaker, you won't have any power going to your outlets. You need to find the feed to the input to your converter and disconnect it there.
