Good for you and don't get discouraged from some people on here "to hire someone". We all have to start some were and you did what you needed, you asked for help. So once again good for you taking on a project and getting it done. Hopefully next time you need help you will get good answers from us like you did from some of us, and not "Hire someone".

The difference in color coding is: auto industry wiring is mostly low voltage 12vdc. In camper wiring, we are dealing with both low voltage 12vdc and 110vac. Industry standard, in fact NEC (National Electrical Code) dictates how recreational vehicles should be wired...and hot wire (black), white (neutral) and green (ground or bonding) must be adhered to. Recreational vehicles that have 240/120 wiring are required to conform with the NEC.The strictly low voltage in auto industry use red for positive and black for negative ground which is standard in electronics and automotive products. There is no uniformity however, unlike the 120vac. Splicing the wires is no different from plugging it in, because they are both power input.

Two ways. one easy one hard

One way> Get a outlet box and outlet, (I like 15/20 amp outlets) wire teh existing black and white to the outlet (inside the box) Black wire goes tot he copper colored screw (The side with the "T" shaped slots)

Now you have an outlet to plug it into.

Other way
Open unit, remove cord, replace with existing black/white wires NOTE

I really like the "Add an outlet" method.

Thinking that too. We're only talking a couple wires here.

Hire someone to install it correctly including the ground wire.

Best answer! If the OP has to ask, they should hire a pro.

How was previous converter wired up ? Maybe you have an outlet for the converter on the back side of your breaker/fuse panel...

I'm not a fan of WFCO converters, but maybe the one you list is truly a 3-stage automatic converter...

I would add the outlet box to preserve the cord and the warranty.
Fair chance you will need it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Remove plug on new unit. Expose bare wires. Splice.

The easiest and probably best solution is to install an outlet to plug the converter into.

It may be possible to safely splice the wires you have together (cutting off the plug on the converter) as well, depending on the exact setup. It may also be impractical to do that safely and properly.

If you're not sure of the wiring, I would strongly urge you to hire or get help from a qualified person. It's not particularly complicated or difficult, but not doing it properly can create a significant shock and/or fire hazard.

install an outlet in your cabinet? or remove the appliance cord, and hard wire it in?
