Problem with remote-operated dump valve (cable style)

My 2006 Keystone Raptor has those cable-style remote dump valves for the black and gray tank. Over the last, I dunno, year, the black valve has become more and more difficult to open and close -- very stiff. The other day, the plastic threaded neck around the handle broke.

I was able to rework it a bit and get it back in place so I could close the valve, but I wonder how long it'll be before it stops working entirely.

It looks like it will be a huge PITA to replace the whole valve.. do you think its likely that the cable is the problem, or is the valve "worn out" from 12 years of fulltime use? The local RV parts shop says I can get just the cable, but I'm not even sure how to disconnect the one that's in there to replace it.

Anybody ever deal with this before?

    20 years ago the old timers told me to add a zerk fitting to the valve and grease it on occasion. Not a problem since!

    I put a little oil on the cables and it helped,worked it in by opening/closing valves

    Neither, there was enough play in the pipes to separate them enough to get the valve out. It only takes and inch or two of movement to get the valve out and back in.

    I used Gorilla tape to re-secure the coroplast.

    I have replaced a few. Bought the assy off amazon. I always had enough play in the piping to be able to slip the old one out and the new one in. god luck.

    You can cut a flap in the coroplast with a sharp blade. Cut a U with the bottom of the U to the front of the coach. When done fold it back down and use aluminum tape to close it. Aluminum tape sticks and it's water proof.

    I just replaced the valve and handle on my Fuzion a couple weeks ago. Not that much of a deal. The worst part was getting through the coroplast to get to it. Four bolts and and the old valve is out, put the rubber seals in place and put the new one back in. Not that bad at al.

    FWIW, my plastic threaded part was what broke on mine too. Got the new one off Ebay, with free shipping. Easy peasy.
