Propane BBQ issue

Your new grill probably has a regulator that needs to be removed for it to work.

Nope, no regulator on the grill. The grill is a
Camco 57305 Olympian 5500 Stainless Steel Portable Grill.

It's possible that the propane plumbing at or beyond the "T" is obstructed and not allowing adequate gas delivery. It may also be possible that the regulator on the trailer is set too low.
A manometer at the outlet for your grill hose may point out a low pressure situation.

When you connect a low pressure appliance to a high pressure tank, which is your case, safety stops can be activated and cause little or no propane to get to the appliance. Turn the propane off at the tank, then open all the valves on the grill if that is the appliance in use. Shut them and unhook the hose at both ends. Now reconnect the hose and very slowly open the tank valve (this lets the pressure build slowly, now open the grill valve and light. Works like a charm. If it doesn't you may need a new regulator for the grill, but that is unlikely. Best to then leave the tank valve open if you can or make sure you always open is slowly.

I know whats going on because I went through the same thing.
There are at least 3 different kinds of quick disconnect and they dont play with one another. You have a combination that connects but doesn't allow flow. So your half way there!
The difference is the size of the hole in the end of the male end of the QD. It's too big. To verify, connect the hose and then, using the collar on the female coupler, release the hose. If it shoots away from the coupler then it shold be working and something else is wrong. If it just stays in the coupler then the hole in the end of the male end is too big. You have to change either side of the quick disconnect or do what I did and install a 1/4" X 1/4" bushing into the end of the male fitting. This will push on the valve inside the female coupler and allow flow.

Hopefully this is whats going on; is the hole in your brass end the same size as the one shown in this pic? If so it needs to be the size of the silver hole in order to activate a valve inside the female coupler.
I found the aluminum bushing at the local H/W store in their Hillman selection. It's a standard size. I simply pushed it into the end and slightly distorted the brass to hold it.

It's all perfectly safe (worst thing that could happen is the bushing fall out and the gas doesn't flow but never has) and works great! I run a BBQ and fire pit through 25' on line.

Good thought but the OP is not connecting a low pressure item to a high pressure tank. The pressure in the RV's lines is low pressure because it's after the regulator on the tank.
Quick disconnects on RV's are always at regulated pressure - not tank pressure.

I was certainly wondering about the compatibility of the fittings. Not sure how best to fully confirm if this is the issue.

Not true. "ALL" are low pressure? No. I have both a high and a low pressure QD. I know others who also have high pressure connects.

are there any markings on the female or a working male.

mbsturgis makes a variety of QD, model 250 is the standard (200?) for low pressure RV.
