Questions about winterizing Vesta dishwasher

Installed a Vesta in the MH this spring. Works great and are happy with it. The winterizing instructions in the owner's manual seem rather simplistic so I called Westland tech support. Their instructions were equally simplistic.

So, we get a turkey baster and suck all of the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher. I also disconnect the drain line where it dumps into main grey line. That winterizes the drain line. When I asked about dumping some pink stuff in the dishwasher the tech said it wasn't necessary.

To winterize the water line the tech said to disconnect it from where I tied it in to the cold water line and let it gravity drain. That winterizes the supply line.

It seems to me that there could be supply or waste water trapped somewhere in the dishwasher.

So, how do you do to winterize your Vesta?
  • It would be the same as winterizing the clothes washing machine. After draining the fresh water tank, put some antifreeze in the water tank. Then turn on the dishwasher and operate it until it sucks the antifreeze into the dishwasher. Pour a little more antifreeze into the dishwasher itself, fast forward the cycles so that it pumps it out of the dishwasher through the drain. That takes care of winterizing both the input and output lines.
