Removing Eternabond

We have an 07 Komfort, it looks like the factory used Eternabond ontop of the slides that I think should be replaced. I know this stuff is super sticky, what's the best way to remove the old stuff so I can replace it?

That's probly a good idea but I don't have either one, I was going to use a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar, think that would work?


Cleaned up, dicor caulked and ready for the Eternabond.
Old stuff musta been 3".
The alum is quite a bit higher than the rubber, I might run a 3/4" strip of Eternabond next to the alum as a step, the old stuff had holes in it from the wiper seals over the years.

I'm using mineral spirits and it's working ok. Bit of a messy job.

EternaClean MSDS shows it is Acetone.

Mineral spirits. I had an RV Armor roof put on my trailer and that is what the tech used to clean it with.

OK, so used the heat gun and scraper, as you can seee got most of the sticky **** off on the close side in the pic, acetone will take the rest off without causing the rubber to blister, is that right?
Last time I did something like this the rubber bubbled, think I used varsol, was a long time ago and don't remember exactly...

There's a few areas like that, worst areas are where it comes over the top down the side.
One spot there's a metal flange on the corner where the flange pokes through the eternabond, I gooped it up with Dicor a fey years ago but it's poking through again. I wanna pull the Eternabond back, see if I can flatten the flange then redo it. If I can't make it flat enough I'll build up a ramp with smaller pieces of Eternabond then top it off with a full strip.
But you're right, I could probly get away with just redoing the corners, ordered a 50 ft roll so will have lots to play with.

It looks like only a small area is coming up. Can't you just trim that off, and lay a fresh layer over it?

I used something on our old trailer when I did some work to it that caused the rubber to bubble, don't want to have that trouble again.

I have found that "hot" solvents like acetone, work the best it is recommended by Eternabond. I have used it and it has worked out very well and have yet to have any problems with it not sticking and staying that way for over 10 years.

X3 heat gun plastic scraper.

You don't need to get all of the stickum off. As long as it is clean the new tape will stick just fine.
