Removing old sealant
I am replacing the ceiling vent in the fiver with a Maxxair Fan, the instructions say remove ALL old sealant from flange. Is there any thing that will make this go a little easier?

- Not an easy job, but try using a plastic putty knife. I found that working from the inside edge towards the roof was a bit easier as you could find an edge easier. Take your time and it will turn our great. I did the same project last year.
- Plastic putty knife and a heat gun or old blow dryer. Dont worry about getting it all off.
- A plastic putty knife and heat gun will do the job. Just be careful with the heat gun, you don't want it too hot.
If you have a larger area, consider a Fein Multi-tool or the Harbor Freight knockoff. - If you have an oscillating multi tool they make special blades for cutting through caulk - I have used on RV and home and find them very useful.
